Who Qualifies for Hospice Care?

Hospice is available for individuals with a life-limiting illness and a prognosis of six months or less if the illness follows its expected course. To qualify, the patient or their representative must elect hospice as a care option, and a physician must certify eligibility. This decision is often made by the patient’s physician in consultation with the hospice medical director.
